See It in Video
We've made it there and back—Erik, Michael, Sarah and Clara have spent three weeks traveling to many areas of Kenya and meeting many people this past summer. We've seen the exciting tech industry starting up in Nairobi at iHub. We've talked with the venture capital funders of Social Enterprises at the Nairobi VC networking hour. We've seen social enterprise in action in western Kenya.
And in Kilifi, we were awed once again by all the activity going on there. We participated in the deworming of 30,000 kids. We talked to the kids who were sponsored by the great work of KESHO, our scholarship partner. And, with the folks of the Kilifi Rotary Club, we learned and planned a tremendous amount about mobile health and the work of community health workers. We were in the meetings and building the partnerships that will save thousands of lives and hopefully transform health in Kilifi and East Africa.

mHealth Project Launching: $1M Here We Come
At Kilifi Kids, we've been focused on our Mobile Health pilot project for a while now, and things are coming together. We will be using Kilifi's highly functional cell phone coverage to improve the delivery of healthcare and attack malnutrition for about 25,000 kids. This is a big deal.
We've just started the first of two phases. Our long-term goal is to raise $1 million over three years. See more updates at our blog. The Magic of Kilifi Kids
As you may know, Kilifi Kids is a partnership of young professionals in Kenya, England and the US working to improve the health and education of kids in Kilifi, Kenya. But our strength—what makes us different—is the diversity of our team. We have finance experts, entrepreneurs, world-class medical researchers, public health professionals, IT experts, international nonprofit coordinators, and government officials. In the US, our active volunteers span 6 states and our donors 25 states. We have a slew of partner organizations (especially Rotary International) who do wonderful work in concert with our efforts.
What's so exciting is that we're all volunteers. We use our passions and unique professional abilities to make a meaningful contribution to Kilifi and the world.
